Monte Carlo Masters 2019: Rafael Nadal Advances Into Semi-finals, Beats Guido Pella In Straight Sets

Rafael Nadal progressed into the semis after a hard-fought match with Guido Pella whom he eliminated in straight sets 7-6(1), 6-3.
With 11 titles in his record, the Spaniard is already the biggest winner at the tournament and his victory over the Argentine extended his unbeaten run to 18 matches in a row.
Nadal recovered from 4-1 down with Pella who brilliantly combated his forehand in the first set, but the second seed dragged the set into a tiebreak after levelling 5-5 and won seven match points to win the set.
Pella could not maintain his resilience at the second set against the world no. 2 who moved on to win in straight sets and is now one match away from his 13th career final at the Principality.
Speaking after the match, Nadal admitted to strong resilience build up against him by the Argentine and that he was "lucky" to have come back from 4-1 down in the opening set.
"I was lucky to escape that moment and then I played better," says Nadal "I'm very happy to be through. Being in the semi-finals again here means a lot to me."
Fabio Fognini, who outlasted Borna Coric in three sets 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 will face the Spaniard in his next match.
