Atletico Madrid's strong resilience against Barcelona couldn't hold sway in the last minutes as late strikes from Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez sealed the victory for the Nou Camp hosts.
Diego Costa's dismissal in the first half may have paved the way for Barcelona to win. In effect, moved up eleven points clear their closest rivals in La Liga table after 2-0 home win against the visiting side.

After the match, Atletico's manager Diego Simeone disputed the referee's decision to send Costa for having to confront saying, "Other players have said things and not been sent off but that does not justify what Costa did."
