'Boyz N the Hood' Director John Singleton Has Died, Aged 51

John Singleton, director and screenwriter of 1991 drama 'Boyz N the Hood', has passed away after suffering stroke. He was aged 51.
The Emmy and Oscar-nominated director had been hospitalized and surviving on life support after a stroke fortnight ago but finally died when his family decided to take him off the medically-induced coma.
Singleton, who was the first black director ever to be nominated for Oscar's best director, was surrounded by his family and friends when he passed away, according to a statement released by his family.
"We are sad that John Singleton has died," the statement reads " John passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family and friends."
"We want to thank the amazing doctors at Cedars-Sinai Hospital for their expert care and kindness and we again want to thank all of John's fans, friends and colleagues for all of the love and support they showed him during this difficult time."
Amongst the brilliant works done by Singleton before his death was directing Michael Jackson's 'Remember The Time', 1993 Tupac Shakur and Janet Jackson starring film 'Poetic Justice' and 2017 crime-based drama Snowfall.
Singleton is survived by his mother Shelia Ward and five children.
