Miami Open 2019: Novak Djokovic Sends Bernard Tomic Out, Will Face Federico Delbonis In R32
Novak Djokovic is off to a winning start at the Miami Open in his bid for seventh title, but had a hard-fought opening set with Australian ace Bernard Tomic.
Aside from Andre Agassi, Djokovic is the only player to have won six titles at the tournament - he defeated Kei Nishikori in 2016 to tie with the retired American player.
The 28-year-old battled through a tiebreak with the world no. 1, against whom he hasn't won a match in six ATP Fedex meetings, and breezed through over him the second set to win 7-6(2), 6-2.
He recalled his shock exit from Indian Wells by Philipp Kohlschreiber, but says "I worked on everything I need to work on...To build the momentum and build that match play." In the next match, he will face Argentine ace Federico Delbonis.
