Miami Open 2019: Ashleigh Barty Beats Karolina Pliskova To Women's Title
Czech player Karolina Pliskova conceded bid for her first season title to Ashleigh Barty after losing in straight set, 7-6(1), 6-3 to the Aussie in the final.
Barty won her fourth career titles and the biggest yet in Florida on her fifth career meetings with the Czech whom she leads 3:2 in head-to-head count.
Pliskova battled through tiebreak with Barty, but hit a backhand return shot wide as the 22-year-old won six straight match points to win the opener.
The Australian controlled the decider through over Pliskova, losing only fifth points, and being in the lead by 5-3, she wrap up the game with a drop shot.
Twelve-time titlist, Pliskova, blamed her defeat on feeling a bit fatigue saying, "I am very tired but Ashleigh came up with the goods today."
