Manchester United: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Appointed As Permanent Manager On Three Years Contract
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been appointed as Manchester United's permanent manager and has signed to a three year contract with the club.
The Norwegian was appointed to replaced ousted manager Jose Mourinho as caretaker manager in December following the club's poorest start to a season in recent times.
Speaking how he felt about his appointment, Solksjear described it as the job of his dream and had hope to make it his home since his arrival at Old Trafford.
"This is the job that I always dreamed of doing," Solskjaer says on his appointment "I'm beyond excited to have the chance to lead the club long term. From the first day I arrived, I felt at home at this special club."
Recalling his days as United's striker, he added that "It was an honour to be a Manchester United player, and then to start my coaching career here."
The 46-year-old led United to eight unbeaten run in all competitions on his debut which was longest on record for a manager. Also, he led the team to knock Paris St-Germain out of the Champions League in Last 16, staging a stunning comeback to win 3-3 on aggregate and qualified for Last 8 on away goal advantage.
The club's executive vice chairman Ed Woodward, says the Norwegian's performance at the club since his arrival in December "speak for themselves".
He added, "More than just performance and results, Ole brings a wealth of experience, both as a player and as a coach, couple with a desire to give young players their chance and a deep understanding of the culture of the club."
