Europa League Last 16: Arsenal Stunningly Beat Rennes 3-0 (Aggr. 4-3) To Reach Quarter-finals
Arsenal staged a stunning comeback after losing first leg tie to Rennes and overturned the deficit incurred by winning the second leg tie by 3-0 at Emirates stadium to book their place in the Europa League quarter-finals.
In the first leg tie, Gunners were stunningly beating 3-1 in away match with the French side, narrowing their chance of making it through to Last 8.
Rennes started crumbling when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang tapped in a low cross from Aaron Ramsey inspired by Maitland-Niles esrly into the match.
Ten minutes later, Aubameyang squared a cross from inside the area to Maitland-Niles, who responded with an header for Arsenal's second goal.
Rennes came close to getting a goal through Ismaila Sarr, whose right footed shot beat Petr Czech but caught the post and rolled into safety before Aubameyang poked in Sead Kolasinac's low cross for Arsenal's third goal.
Arsenal join their London-based rivals Chelsea in the quarter-finals after they beat Dynamo Kyiv 5-0 (aggr. 8-0).
Draw for the quarter-finals will be announced on Friday.
