Disney Bros. has rehired former director of the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' James Gunn, who was sacked for his profane tweet on rape, paedophile and child abuse, to direct and writing the franchise's next instalment.
Gunn released a statement via his social media accounts over the weekend, admitting to his wrongdoings in tweeted message between 2008-2012 that resurface in July last year and consequently led to his dismissal from helming the blockbuster franchise.
First, the 52-year-old thanked his supporters for standing by him over the years and promised to decease from repeating the act but would try to be the best he can be.
"I am tremendously grateful to every person there who has supported me over the past few month," he wrote in a tweeted message on Saturday.
"I am always learning and will continue to work at being the best human being I can be. I deeply appreciate Disney's decision and I am excited to continue making film that investigate the ties of love that bind us all."
There has been different positions on how Gunn got the job he was sacked from eight months, but Variety claimed the studios did after several meetings with him before
The franchise has been a high performer for Disney since its first entry 'Guardians of the Galaxy' was released in 2014. The franchise's two entries Galaxy 1 & 2 have hauled in $722.98 million in domestic gross for the studios.
The film is scheduled to be released in 2020, but whilst he has that job reinstated, he also has another film at hand, that is sequel to Idris Elba's starring film 'The Suicide Squad'.
