BNP Paribas Open 2019: Roger Federer To Meet Rafael Nadal In Semi-finals
Roger Federer breezed pass Hubert Hurkacz in the quarter-finals and moved closer to claiming his sixth title at the BNP Paribas Open.
Hubert, 22, was dominated over by the fourth seed, who was playing his 83rd career quarter-finals in an ATP Masters 1000 event and had him eliminated in straight sets by 6-4, 6-4 in just an hour.
The Swiss brought the Polish under control by breaking two service games at both sets and wrapped up the match at 5-4, 30/40 in second set with a cross-court forehand shot.
"I'm very excited to be in the semis here. Not that i didn't expect it, but it definitely went better than i thought it would," says Federer who will be playing his 12th semi-finals in Indian Well.
Federer will meet in the next match, second seed Rafael Nadal who survived a scare from Karen Khachanov and won in straight sets by 7-6(2), 7-6(2).
