BNP Paribas Open 2019: Dominic Thiem Stuns Roger Federer To Win First ATP Masters 1000 Title

Dominic Thiem staged a stunning comeback to beat Roger Federer in straight sets and won his first ever ATP Masters 1000 title in Indian Wells.
Federer was vying for his 28th ATP Masters 1000 and sixth title at the tournament, but was overpowered by the Austrian to whom he has now lost three-time in five ATP Fedex encounters.
"It is unreal. It's a pleasure to compete against Roger in this great final," Thiem said in post-match interview "I lost my last two Masters 1000 finals, but i won this one and it feels as nice as a Grand Slam."
After breezing through the opening set, Dominic staged a remarkable rally and swiftly moved 4-1 up in the lead over Federer to win his his first set on hard court in three years in less than forty minutes.
Winning the decider did not come easy for the world no. 4. He was really put to the test by Federer, who made him to pace up, slip and bruised his elbow at 4-all. Eventually he was able to convert a break point and went on to win the game after Federer netted a four hand shot at 6-5 40/15.
The 25-year-old won his 12th ATP tour level title and his first on outdoor/hard court since 2016 at Mexican Open in Acapulo.
