Bahrain Grand Prix 2019: Lewis Hamilton Wins As Engine Issues Devastate Ferrari
Mercedes duo Lewis Hamilton and Bottas Valterri finshed atop in the final of Bahrain Grand Prix, but it was by chance following an engine problem that devastated Ferrari.
The Monegasque, 21, was all set for a ride to glory when his car had turbo issues in lap 47, paving the way to the Briton to overtake him and sped off to win the race.
The engine Charles delayed him for seconds before he could regain pace, leading to Bottas moving up to second position as he fought to clinch podium position in third position.
Hamilton took the lead in 1:34:21.295secs whilst his arch rival Sebastian Vettel dropped to fifth position behind Max Verstappen as a result of engine failure.
Aftrr the race, Hamilton believed Mercedes only won the race by being "lucky" because if not for the technical spell, "Ferraris were incredible and Charles did such a great job."
Daniel Riccardo, who left Red Bull for Renault, has not able to finish his best form in his new team since the start to the season. He retired from the race as McLauren's Lando Norris rode on to finish sixth ahead Kimi Raikkonen.
Speaking Ferrari's engine problem, Charles says "It wasn't our day but I'm confident we've done enouhh to recapture the pace. We had a very unlucky situation."
