Russell Westbrook Hits Sixth Triple-double In A Row, Blames Self For Thunder's 134-129 Defeat To Celtics
Russell Westbrook extended his triple-double streak scoring for his 19th of the season during Oklahoma City Thunder's 134-129 defeat to Bolton Celtics on Sunday night.
He accepted fault for reason the gross loss during a game he scored his sixth triple-double in a row with 22 points, 12 rebounds and 16 assists whilst Kyrie Irving put in double-digits scoring for Celtics with 30 points, 4 rebounds and 11 assists.
Celtics were off for the offensive from the start with Kyrie Irving charging the group to lead the first half. Thunder came back strong into the game leading Celtics by mid-third quarter before slacking behind in the fourth quarter.
Unfortunately for Thunder, Celtics' Jayson Tatum was fouled and scored the free-throws to extend lead by 131-129 with 16.2 second remaining, after Jeremi Grant had cut the deficit for Thunder to 128-129 with 16.5 seconds remaining.
Afterwards, Westbrook admitted blames for not committing to team plan to get ball upcourt if Tatum free-throw hit the rim, he says "That's on me...That was the plan. Just a turnover."
However, Thunder's Paul George led both sides in the stats with 37 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Dennis Schroder finished the game with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists.
