Rotterdam Open 2019: Gael Monfils Beats Stan Wawrinka To Win Title

Gael Monfils outlasted Stan Wawrinka in the final match of Rotterdam Open to claim his first title of the season.
The Frenchman, 32, overcame the swift and determined Swiss player in their sixth career meetings and wrapped up the final in three sets by 6-3, 1-6, 6-2 after an hour and 44 minutes of play.
Monfils brought his usual entertaining style of play in the match and converted two break points to win the opening set, but dropped the second set to the Swiss who gained momentum and breezed through the set.
The three-time Gram Slam champion was later overpowered in the deciding as Monfils swept through converting another break point at 5-2 and sealed the final for his eighth career ATP title.
In 2016, the reigning champion reached the tournament's final for the first time but lost to Slovak veteran Martin Klizan in three sets 6-7(1), 6-3, 6-1.
