Premier League: Gonzalo Higuain Scores His First Goals For Chelsea In 5-0 Win Over Huddersfield
Newly signed Gonzalo Higuain, in his second game with Chelsea, opened his scoring record with the club scoring two goals to help Blues beat Huddersfield 5-0 at Stanford Bridge, moving his new club three points clear their closest rivals in top four Arsenal.
Chelsea recovered from their devastating 4-0 defeat to Bournemouth at Dean Court on Wednesday which fueled criticism against their manager Maurizio Sarri which was the club's biggest loss in a Premier League game after a 5-1 defeat to Liverpool in 1996.
Nonetheless, Blues were different against Huddersfield, moving up in the lead through Gonzalo recieved a pass from N'Golo Kante and slammed in the ball for the opening goal in 16th minutes. That was followed by Eden Hazard converting a penalty drawn by Cesar Azpilicueta just before the half time.
The Belgian added in the third goal for Chelsea, after receiving a through ball from Barkley, he dribbled Terriers' goal keeper Jonas Lossl and slammed in a left-footed shot.
Gonzalo widened the lead to 4-0 with a superb right-footed shot from 20-yard and David Luis sealed the goal campaign heading in Willian's cross following a corner.
Sarri, who led Chelsea to their biggest defeat in about 22 years, redeemed his image with the club, finishing the game with their biggest home victory since 2017 against Stoke, which they won by same margin 5-0.
The Argentine Gonzalo joined Chelsea on loan from Juventus ten days ago and has proven the move to Chelsea to reunite with his former manager at Napoli to worth it.
