Paul George Leads Thunder Through Double-Overtime To Pinch Game From Utah Jazz By 148-147
With much of the scoring coming from Paul George and Russell Westbrook, Oklahoma City Thunder fought through double overtime to beat Utah Jazz by 148-147 on Fridays night at Chesapeake Energy Arena.
With 0.8 second left to play in second OT, George tipped in a much needed two-point to snatch the victory for Thunder and the team's sixth consecutive win over Jazz.
During the hard-fought game, Jazz cut down on Thunder's 11 points lead in the second quarter and overtook lead by the third quarter - Westbrook kept the scoring close posting his fifth three-pointer for his team to trail by 89-92.
However, George and Westbrook inspired Thunder on the offensive as Jazz pushed hard to keep the lead, but Rudy Gobert fouled on Jerami Grant with 0.27 seconds remaining leading to a tie scoring in the fourth quarter.
The first overtime ended with both sides tying up by 139-139, then George powered Thunder through to wreck Jazz with a brilliant floater in with 0.8 seconds left to play.
After the game, Westbrook who finished with a double-double scoring of 43 points, 15 rebounds, and 8 assists admittedly said about George played a big role in the victory, "Obviously, he's been makinv them all year long, and tonight was one of those night where he made another big play."
George led the stats with game-high scoring of 45 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assist. He praised the team and acknowledged that the win was as a result of contributions from his team, he says "that game wouldn't have happened if the guys didn't make big shots...The floater wouldn't have happened if those dudes didn't make big shots when we needed."
