DC Universe, Warner Bros. Planning A Sequel To 'Aquaman'
Aquaman debut on screen was actually first as cameo in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016, and was featured in major role in Justice League. Now, on its own has turned out to be a massive success for DC Universe both in domestic and global markets.
The James Wan directed superhero film of underwater adventure has passed Batman V Superman to be DC universe's all-time biggest film with $1.13 billion gross worldwide.
Aquaman is the studio's first film to reach the billion dollar milestone in history, and in North America, it trails 'Wonder Woman' ($412.5 million) to be DCEU's second biggest grossing film of all-time.
Based on the performance recorded by the film, DC Universe and Warner Bros. are now reportedly planning on the sequel 'Aquaman 2'. Another thing is, it has not been confirmed if DC would be hirng James as screenwriter for the sequel.
However, Warner Bros. intended creating something quite different but similar to Aquaman and has hired Noah Gardner and Aidan Fitzgerald as screenwriter for 'The Trench' according to Heat Vision.
The spin off 'Trench' has to do with the sharp-toothed underwater-creatures that Arthur (Aquaman) and Mera fought midway to the middle of the earth.
