Champions League Round of 16: Tottenham Win 3-0 Over Borussia Dortmund
It was a remarkable performance from Tottenham which set it off against Borussia Dortmund and beat the German side 3-0 in the Champions League Round of 16 first leg tie at Wembley Stadium.
Spurs claimed their biggest win against Dortmund in their fourth meetings in the continental game and are the only team with a clean sheet at this stage of the tournament.
After both went through the first half goalless, Heung-min Son sidefooted in the opening goal from Jan Vertonghen's cross following a break.
The Belgian, Vertonghen, seized a chance created for him by Davinson Sanchez who set him for a strike inside the area with a well aimed cross and he wasted no effort to finish it off with a sidefooted shot.
Late into the game, Christian Eriksen paced down the left flank and looped a cross into the box only for Fernando Llorente who headed the ball in for Spurs' third goal.
"In the first half we played a little not nervously but not with the confidence," says Mauricio Pochettino " the second half was very, very, very good."
Vertonghen was instrumental to Spurs' victory and was the player to watch out for during the game. In the second leg ties, Dortmund will host Tottenham at Signal Iduna Park Stadium on March 5.
