FA Cup Third Round: Tranmere Rovers Concede Heaviest Defeat In 65 Years To Tottenham Hotspur
Tranmere Rovers has suffered the heaviest defeat in FA Cup game since 1953 to Tottenham Hotspur at home by 7-0 on Friday.
Besides losing by huge margin today, this happened to be the second time Rovers will be embarrassed Spurs, as they so did in 1953 losing to the Premier League side by 9-1 - that was the heaviest defeat ever recorded in FA Cup.
The humiliation started late in the first half when Sergie Aurier's shot from 25-yard was deflected in for the opening goal, he doubled the lead soon after the break.
Fernando Llorentte added in an hat-trick - his first goal was in 48th minutes before Aurier's second goal - to make it Spurs' fifth goal, then the match captain Son put in the sixth and Harry Kane completed the scores with the seventh in 82nd minutes.
In the end, Tottenham progressed to the fourth round as Tranmere failed to make it through to their first fourth round appearance since 2002/03.
