FA Cup Third Round: Manchester United Extend Winning Run Under Ole Gunnar Solkjaer By Beating Reading 2-0
Ole Gunnar Solkjaer has extended his winning streak with Manchester City to five consecutive with a 2-0 win over Reading in the FA Cup third round match on Saturday.
United remain unbeaten in all competitions since Solkjaer was appointed as the team's interim manager in December.
Shortly after Frederico Santo's goal was ruled offside, the referee awarded a penalty to United for Reading's Omar Richards tackled on Juan Mata in the box which Mata converted for the opening goal.
Belgian International Romelu Lukaku doubled the lead on the brink of full time from Alexis Sanchez's pass.
Meanwhile, Danny Loader was close getting an equalizer for Reading but failed to convert the chance having rounded United keeper for a finishing.
The Norwegian matched previous record set by Sir Matt Busby after winning four matches in a row to become the first manager to do so on his debut at Old Trafford since 1953. He passed Sir Busby after today's match against Reading.
