Brisbane International: Kei Nishikori Cruises Through To Final To Meet Daniil Medvedev
Kei Nishikori is set for his first title of the season as he booked his place in the final match of Brisbane International by beating Jeremy Chardy in the semi-final on Saturday.
The world no. 9 was in top form and dictated the pace of the match over his French opponent and eliminated him in straight sets by 6-2, 6-2 for his seventh career victory over him in nine meetings after an hour of play.
Jeremy stood no chance with the Kei who converted four break points conceding just 12 points in eight games whilst he lost well over half of his points and gave in to mounting pressure from the Japanese.
Speaking on the match, Kei acknowledged his performance during the match was sensational, he said: "I felt like I was too fast on the court today. I felt very good."
The 28-year-old will face in the final match Russian Daniil Medvedev who defeated Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in straight sets by 7-6(6), 6-2.
