Australian Open 2019: Serena Williams Eases Through To Second Round
She wasted no time to beat German player Tatjana Maria in the opening round match of the tournament in Melbourne on Tuesday.
During a match that lasted for 49-minute, the American controlled the match through the sets converting five break points to knock Tatjana out in straight set 6-0, 6-2.
The 37-year-old is set to upset previous record set by Margaret Court for all-time most Gram Slam winner. She trail the Australian by a title.
"The last time i was here i was pregnant," she recalled playing at the event in 2017 which she won "it's wierd walking back on -by myself this time - it feels good."
Last season, she lost her bid to win her first title since she gave birth to her daughter Alexis Jr., losing in the final at Wimbledon to Angelique Kerber and at the US Open to Naomi Osaka who became the first Japanese player ever to win the title.
She will face in the next round Canadian player Eugenie Bouchard on Thursday.
