Australian Open 2019: Roger Federer Survives Daniel Evan's Test To Reach Third Round

Roger Federer has made through to the third round having survived a hard-fouth second round match with Britain's Dan Evan on Wednesday.
Evan, who returned to court after being served a year ban for testing positive to doping, put the defending champion to a tough test before he was able to knock him out. He played against the Swiss for the first time in his career in Wimbledon 2016 and beaten in the third round.
Both players slugged it out for two and half hours today in Melbourne, fighting through tie-breaks at the opening and second set and the world no. 3 later converted a break at the third set to be in 4-1 advantage and won in straight sets 7-6(5), 7-6(3), 6-3.
"I've seen him play some really good matches over the years," says Federer spdaking of the Briton "He has the variation, which is always a hardthing to play against. He was feeling it today."
Federer is bidding for his seventh title in Melbourne Park and will face American player Taylor Fritz who beat French veteran Gael Monfils in four sets 6-3, 6-7(8), 7-6(8), 7-6(5) in his second round match.
