Australian Open 2019: Rafael Nadal Ruthlessly Beat Stefanos Tsitsipas To Reach The Final
Stefanos Tsitsipas proved to Rafael Nadal that he has got some game-wrecking skills but did not survived the semi-finals with the Spaniard who ruthlessly ousted him to reach his fifth Australian Open final.
Until now, Stefanos was the man-to-beat after he ousted six-time titlist Roger Federer and Spanish veteran Roberto Bautista Agut in the fourth round and quarter-finals match respectively, making him the youngest player in recent times to compete in the semi-finals at the event. Unfortunately for him, he could only last an hour and 45 minutes with Nadal who cleanly beat him.
The Greek player, 19, started off strong but saw a true test competence as the world no. 2 unleashed his aggression on him, keeping his shot deep down the lines and made him do some work as he swept through to win in three-set by 6-2, 6-4, 6-0.
"Today, I have to adapt my game to the new time and to my age," says Nadal who won the title in 2009 and has only reached the final three-time afterwards.
He added saying, "That's what I did during all my career, just try to adapt my game wuth the circumstances that I went through. That's the only reason why at this moment I'm still here competing at high level."
In his bid for his first title in a decade, the Spaniard will meet either world no. 1 Novak Djokovic or FrenLucas Pouille in the final.
