Australian Open 2019: Novak Djokovic Reaches Semi-final As Kei Nishikori Retires Due To Injury

Novak Djokovic gets closer to claiming his seventh Australian Open title as Japanese veteran Kei Nishikori retired in the second set of the quarter-finals following an injury.
The match only lasted fifty minutes with world no. 1 sweeping through the opening set and was in 4-1 lead to break the second set when Nishikori walked to the net to called off the match.
“I love to battle, especially against Kei. We have played here a couple of times. I hope he can recover. I hope it’s not something very serious. I wish him a speedy recovery," Djokovic said afterwards.
Besides making it to semi-finals, Djokovic will retain the No. 1 spot in the ATP World ranking when the new ranking is announced on Monday.
In his next match, he will face either Rafael Nadal or Stefanos Tsitsipas who has been in fantastic form and ousted world no. 3 Roger Federer and Spaniard veteran Roberto Bautista-Agut out of the event.
