2019 Qatar Open: Roberto Bautista-Agut Beats Tomas Berdych To Win Title In Doha
Roberto Bautista-Agut is starting off the season on an impressive note by winning the Qatar ExxonMobil Open in Doha on Saturday.
Bautista fought through a tough final with the Czech Republic player Tomas Berdych and won in three sets by 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 to claim his ninth career title.
The 30-year-old upset the world no. 1 Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals to reach the final and is set to move in ranking to 13th by Monday when new ATP Ranking will be announced.
"Today it was not easy to manage all the motion I had on [the] court," says Bautista admitting to anxiety during the final match.
Two-time finalist Berdych admitted losing to a better player saying in post-match, "Roberto was too good, so well done for the title today."
Bautista finished last season with two titles - Dubai Open and Auckland Open - and ruled out appearing in Wimbledon and three ATP Masters 100 events - Toronto Open, US Open, and Western & Southern (Cincinnati) Open.
