Kei Nishikori marked the season with his first title in three years at the final of Brisbane International in Queensland on Sunday.
Russian player Daniil Medvedev lost the chance of winning his fourth career title to the Japanese who defeated in three sets by 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 after two hours of play.
In the opening set, Medvedev was in 0-3 lead before Nishikori gained momentum and won five straight games to shove the Russian behind by 5-3 and claimed the set with cross-court backhand shot.
The Japanese dropped the second set to the Russian but became aggressive in the deciding set and went on a cruise to win the title with a cross-court backhand shot.
Kei, winning his career 12th ATP World Tour title at the Brisbane International made him the first Japanese ever to win a title at the event.
