Rafael Nadal Donates €1 Million To Help Victims Of Mallorcan Floods
Tennis world no. 2 Rafael Nadal has pledged the sum one million euro to assist flood victims from Sant Llorenc in Mallorcan, Spain.
In October, Sant Llorenc, which is 10 kilometre away from the tennis ace's place of birth Manacor in Mallorca, experienced a heavy downpour that led to flash flood that claimed 13 lives and destroyed houses leaving many displaced.
The coucil Mayor, Mateu Puigros, confirmed the donation made by the tennis player towards helping families affected by the floods in a statement as he wrote in a letter saying, "It is a big help from a very special person, someone who shows his love for our land and its neighbours every day...We know of his immense affection and humanity."
Nadal joined the residents in cleaning the environment on his visit to Sant Llorenc and observed a minute silent in honour of those who lost their lives to the natural disaster.
