Premier League: Southampton End Arsenal's Unbeaten Run With Charlie Austin's Late Goal
Arsenal's unbeaten run hit the rock after conceding game at Southampton by 3-2 from Charlie Austin's header late into the game.
Unai Emery side recorded their third defeat of the season after playing 22 games with a loss, as Saints moved out of relegation zone to 17th position with 12 points tie with Burnley.
Danny Ings headed Saints ahead from Matt Targett's cross and Gunners responded to the lead from Henrikh Mkhitaryan's header and levelled the scores.
Saints regained the lead as Ings doubled the lead heading home Nathan Redmond's cross on the brink on half time, and Henrikh again levelled the lead with a right footed shot that was deflected off Jannik Vestergaard's legs.
After Shane Long's goal was ruled out for offside positioning, he later set Charlie Austin off for header with a cross from inside the area and England international nodded the ball home for the winning goal in 85th minutes.
"We could have lost at any time and it was today. Southampton deserved the result because they pushed and played with big ambition," says Arsenal manager Unai Emery.
Arsenal remain in fifth position with three points behind Chelsea and 11 points behind table leaders Manchester City and Liverpool.
