Premier League: Roberto Firmino Scores Hat-trick As Liverpool Humiliate Arsenal
Arsenal came under the hammer of Liverpool losing by 5-1 at Anfield Stadium as Reds extended Premier League table lead by nine points clear their closest rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Roberto Firmino was spectacular during the match scoring hat-trick which Arsenal started in high spirit before crumbling and committing two penalties that paved the way to the humiliating defeat to Liverpool.
The scoring started early in 11th minutes with Arsenal moving first ahead through Ainsley Maitland-Niles by tapping home Alex Iwobi's cross and Firmino equalized for Reds after Salah's ball bounced off Arsenal's defense to his reach.
Firmino extended the lead dribbling through Arsenal's defense and finished off drilling the ball into the bottom left of the post. That was soon followed by Sadio Mane tapping in Mo Salah's cross for Reds' third goal.
Salah scored the fourth goal by converting a penalty conceded by Arsenal's Sokratis late in the first half and Dejan Lovren drew another penalty for foul on Sead Kolasinac and Firmino converted it for Reds' fifth goal.
The game finished as Unai Emery's worse defeat in all competition since he joined Arsenal in Summer.
Tottenham's 3-1 defeat to Wolves helped Liverpool extend the lead by nine points and risked losing second place to Manchester City which will face Southampton on Sunday.
