Premier League: Liverpool Beat Manchester United To Reclaim Table Top
Liverpool has again reclaimed table lead from their rivals Manchester City after beating Manchester United 3-1 at Anfield Stadium on Sunday.
Jose Mourinho side conceded their second game of week after losing 2-1 to Valencia at the Champions League on Wednesday, but finished second behind Juventus in Group H to qualify for the knockout stages.
Both side scored in the first half of the game. First, Sadio Mane's volley inside the box from Fabinho's cross volley Liverpool moved up in the lead and United's Jesse Lingard equalised the lead after Alisson parried Romelu Lukaku's cross to his reach.
After the break, United's aggression slowed down as their opponents became fired up and controlling the game until they added two more goals to complete the home victory with the introduction Xhedran Shaqiri which changed the mode of the attack.
The Swiss international, 27, put Liverpool back in the lead with a right footed shot and extended the lead with the third goal which was deflected in by United centre-back Fabinho.
Reds' manager Jurgen Klopp was delighted at the team's performance describing it as one that was "over the moon and outstanding".
He also talked about opening goal saying, "The first goal was if we could have drawn it would have been the goal. It's so deserved. Top, top first-class team."
