Tyson Chandler Completes Move To Lakers After Clearing $13.6M Buyout Clause With Phoenix Suns
Los Angeles Lakers has officially signed veteran defensive player Tyson Chandler to their team, after he had cleared his contract buyout clause of $13.6 million with his former team Phoenix Suns on Tuesday.
The introduction of the 36-year-old is intended to influence the team which have loss 6 in 10 games in the areas of defensive rebound.
In a statement released Lakers' General Manager Rob Pelinka, they are desperately in need of a player to step up the team's "interior defense" and Chandler is deemed to be just fit in that aspect.
"Having observed our roster for the first 10 games of this season, one of the areas that Earvin and i discussed with Luke (Lakers manager) that we desired to upgrade interior defense and rebounding. In Tyson Chandle, we addressed that need and so much more," says Pelinka.
Lakers will be 2012 NBA defensive player of the year seventh team in his 18th career season, and has a record of 55 percent in shooting percentage and 9.1 rebounds per game.
