2018 Nitto ATP Finals: Novak Djokovic Cruises Past Alexander Zverev In Second Group Stage Match
Alexander Zverev, in the second match of Group Guga Kuerten, was beaten by world no. 1 Novak Djokovic who his out for his record tying sixth title of the Nitto ATP Finals at the O2 Arena.
The German did not last longer than 75 minutes with the world champion and could only win 65% of first serves with the Serb who had him dominated, playing deep to control to force to commit errors, as he cruised on to win in straight sets by 6-4 6-1.
Zverev said after the match, "When [Djokovic] is in the rallies, he's obviously very hard to beat. He's playing with a lot of confidence, hasn't lost a lot of matches. He's No. 1 in the world."
Djokovic's qualification for the semi-finals would be decided by the match between John Isner and Marin. He woild need Isner to win otherwise Cilic would have to win in three sets.
For Zverev, in his next match, he will meet John Isner on Friday to book his place in the semi-finals.
