Tha Carter V Becomes Lil Wayne's Fourth Album To Reign Atop Billboard 200 Album Chart
Tha Carter V did not fall shot of expectations as it debut at the no. 1 spot of the Billboard 200 album chart on its first weekend.
The New Orleans native hasn't released an album in five years until he dropped Carter V, and it has extended the number of his album that reign at the spot to four - Tha Carter III, Tha Carter IV and I'm Not A Human Being.
In his first week, it recorded an enviable sale of 480,000 equivalent album unit to be the third largest week for an album in 2018, next only to Travis Scott's Astroworld (537,000 units) and Drake's Scorpion (732,000 units), according to Nielsen Music.
Wayne released Carter V on his birthday 28 Sept., a date he announced after Floyd Mayweather caused misunderstanding over the actual release date with an update on Instagram.
In addition, on streaming platforms, the rapper's 13th is only outperformed by Drake's Scorpion as he recorded 433 million on-demand audio stream on debut making it the biggest stream of the year.
