Rolex Shanghai Masters 2018: Novak Djokovic Reaches Third Round, Extends Unbeaten Run With Jeremy Chardy
Novak Djokovic seemed to be out for yet another impressive outing having won his opening match with Frenchman Jeremy Chardy at the Qi Zhong Stadium.
The match did not take the three-time champion longer than 84th minutes to book his place in the third round by knocking Chardy out in straight sets by 6-3, 7-5.
He now has extended his unbeaten run with his opponent to twelve matches in all ATP FedEx tournaments, and will take on Italian Marco Cecchinato or Hyeon Chung in his next match.
Speaking about meeting either of the two players in next round, the former world no. 1 admitted that they are capable of springing surprises having lost to both of them as he says, "both of these players won against me."
But he added that they might get to play against a different versio of him whom they defeated last time saying, "i think i'm completely different player than i was first, five six months of the year"
The 31-year-old has won three titles this season - Wimbledon, US Open and Cincinnati Open - during which he becomes the first player ever to win golden Masters (that is winning all nine Masters 1000 events).
In earlier draw, British player Edmund Kyle made it through the opening round with Filip Krajinovic whom he defeated in straight sets by 7-5, 6-3.
The 23-year-old will take on Italian player Andres Seppi in next round.
