Edmund Kyle has booked his place in the third round having secured R2 victory over Serb player Andreas Seppi in straight sets at the Rolex Shanghai Masters.
The world no. 14 cruised through the sets winning three break points - twice in first set and once in second - during the match to claim the victory over world no. 47 by 6-4, 6-4.
He will face in the round of last 16 Nicolas Jarry who defeated Crotian Marin Cilic to reach the round.
In another draw, China Open finalist Juan del Potro beat France's Richard Gasquet in straight sets by 7-5, 7-6(7).
