Lewis Hamilton Wins Fifth Career Title In Mexico GP, Ties Previous Record Set By Juan Manuel Fangio

What was required of Lewis Hamilton to clinch the title was to finish in seventh, but tyre problems devastated his chances of winning the race and managed to finish in fourth place as he completed bid for his fifth career titles.
As a result, Hamilton becomes Britain's grestest driver with fives titles and ties with previous record set by Argentine driver Juan Manuel Fangio, but trails by two behind German driver Michael Schumacher who leads the all-time biggest winners list.
Sebastain Vettel who dearly needed to win the race to stay in title contest was denied the chance by RedBull's Max Verstappen who dominated the race from lap 18 while Hamilton needed to pit as early as in lap 12 with issues relating to his tyres.
The 33-year-old described his emotions after winning his fifth championship titles as "a strange feeling" he ever had.
"Thank you to the team, I am so grateful to all out partners. To complete this, when Fangio did it for Mercedes, I wouldn't be here without all the hard work that my dad. Thank you."
