Halloween Tops Box Office With $77.5 Million On Its Debut
Universal/Comcast's movie "Halloween" opened with a blockbuster domestic gross of £59.76 million ($77.5m) on its debut weekend, having being screened from 3,928 theatres.
In the international market, the John Carpenter directed horror movie raked in £11 million ($14.3m) to bring it global earnings to a total of £70.8 million ($91.8m), which in effect makes it the second biggest opening in October after Sony's Venom ($80.25m).
The Jamie Lee Curtis' led film performance makesbit the biggest R-rated horror filmnof the year and second all-time biggest behind "It" which opened with £94.8 million ($123m) on its debut in 2017.
Following Halloween in second place of the box office chart is Warner Bros. "A Star Is Born" which grossed £14.88 million ($19.3m) in its third weekend and Venom takes the third position with $13.95 million (£18.1m).
