China Open 2018: Caroline Wozniacki Beats Anastasija Sevastova To Win Women's Title
Caroline Wozniacki has won her 30th career title by defeating Anastasija Sevastova in the final in China Open, which makes it her third event title of the season.
The Danish player, 28, controlled the match from the opener through to second set, breaking the Latvian serve twice to win in straight sets by 6-3, 6-3 within an hour and 20 minutes.
Sevastova had chances to level up with the world no. 2 when she broke back at the second set but she could not convert much needed points to draw level, giving away her chance to win her third event of the season.
Reaching the final would see both player Caroline and Sevastova move up in position by thr time new world ranking will be announced on Monday.
Speaking after the match, the Wimbledon finalist recalled attaining the top spot after winning the event eight years ago saying, "China always holds a special place in my heart."
