Bill Cosby Files For Bail Pending Appeal, Accuses Trail Judge Of Block Key Defense Witness
Cosby's and his lawyers are coming after his sexual assault trial judge Steven O'Neill with an allegation that he has personal grudges with one of their defense witnesses against Andrea Constand, and for that reason, decline to grant the comedian bail pending trial.
Im Septenber, Cosby was sentenced to 3-10 years in prison after he was found guilty three counts charge of aggravated indecent assault of Constand at his resident back im 2004.
In Cosby's appeal legal documents, former attorney, Bruce Castor, who was handling the case in 2005, had told Cosby assured Cosby he would not be prosecuted on the ground that the plaintff's evidents are insufficient, but when Castor was meant to witness in defense, he said in a statement that O'Neill treated him with "tremendous animosity" for taking a stand.
"I believed at the time that the allegation was madr that there was insufficient evidence to convict Mr Cosby," said Castor in a sworn statement "something that time has shown as an accurate assessment."
He added in his statement that the discord between him and O'Neill dated back to 1988, when they both contested to be licensed district attorney which he lost to O'Neill. They later became foes following an accusation that the judge was cheating on his wife.
In their appeal documents, Cosby's lawyers wanted him free from prison on pending appeal for his sexual assault sentence.
