As Monaco Appoints Thierry Henry As Head Coach
AS Monaco has appointed former France international Thierry Henry as their new manager.
The former Arsenal forward will replace Leonardo Jardim who was relinquished of his position on Thursday following the club's poor performance - they finished in 18th position last season.
On Saturday, Henry signed to three years contract that will last until June 2021 with the Ligue 1 side as its manager.
In a tweet, the 41-year-old who started his career with Monaco (1994 - 1999), confirmed his appointment as he wrote, "I am very happy to come back to Monaco and extremely determined to meet the challenges ahead."
In the lengthy message, he recalled offers he received from clubs like Bordeaux, but happy to join his former club, he wrote in French which in translation means, "I was fortunate to receive some very attractive offers over the last few months, but Monaco will always be close to my heart."
Henry led France to win their first Fifa World Cup trophy in France 1998, and also to win Euro 2000 hosted by Belgium and the Netherlands.
