Arsenal's Lauremt Koscienly announced Retirement From International Football
Arsenal defender Laurent Koscienly has announced his retirement from international football blaming France manager Didier Deschamp for his decision.
The 33-year-old did not make the national team list for Fifa 2018 World Cup in Russia as a result of ankle injury he sustained in Arsenal's semi-final match at the Europa League back in May.
Giving his reasons for calling it a quit, the center-back lamented being let down by many of his fellow national team members and their manager, as non of them bothered to call him since he damaged his ankle.
"When you are in good form, you have lots of ftiends. When you are injured...after a certain period of time, you are forgotten," Laurent said.
"He [Deschamps] called me once for my birthday in Spetember. Otherwise, no. Lots of people disappointed me. Not only the coach."
He also added that missing the World Cup in Russia hurt more than his injury would because of the contribution he has made to the national team.
Announcing his retirement he says, "I will always be a supporter of the French team but what is certain is that i will not put on the blue jersey."
Before his retirement, the Arsenal player has made 51 appearances for his country and was part of the team at the Fifa 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
