US Open 2018: Serena Williams Beats Karolina Pliskova To Reach Semi-final
Serena Williams moves closer to claiming her first title since the birth of the daughter Alexis Jr. as she cruised through to the semi-final of the tournament in Flushing Meadow.
The former world champion defeated the eighth seed Czech Karolina Pliskova in straight sets by 6-4 6-3 as she bids to win her seventh US Open title for all-time most winner at the tournament.
The former world number one holds the record for most hard-court win with 13 titles and is set to equal Australian Margaret Court record of 24 Grand Slams for all-time most major single title.
"Every match really means a lot to me. I kind of go out there and I just do the best that I can," the mother-of-one in a post-match interview.
The American is booked to face Latvian Anastasija Sevastova in the semi-final.
