US Open 2018: Roger Federer Thrashes Nick Kyrgio To Reach Quarter-final
Aussie player Nick Kyrgio could not make it past third round and has been eliminated from the tournament by Roger Federer who has not dropped a set since losing in the final of Cincinnati Open to Novak Djokovic.
The world number two, 37, controlled the match over the Australian whom he thrashed in straight three sets by 6-4 6-1 5-7 after over an hour and half minutes of play.
Having won the match, Federer, in 17 appearances have now reached the quarter-final sixteen times winning five titles in all which he last did a decade ago.
In all four ATP FedEx matches both players have met, Federer only dropped one to Nick and that was in Madrid Open in 2015, losing in three sets by 6-7(2), 7-6(5), 7-6(12).
In the round of last sixteen, the Swiss will now face John Milman who ousted Kazahktani player Mikhail Kukushkin in four sets by 6-4, 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.
