US Open 2018: Rafael Nadal Reaches Quarter-finals, Scheduled To Take On Dominic Thiem
Rafael Nadal moves closer to claiming his fourth title in Arthur Ashe Stadium having reached the quarter-final after a showdown with Nikoloz Basilashvili.
The match lasted for over three hours before the Georgian player conceded defeated to the world number one in four sets by 6-3, 6-3, 6-7, 6-4.
The third set claimed by Nikoloz was his career first with Nadal who remains unbeaten in two ATP FedEx encounters with the Georgian as he progresses on to play his 10th quarter-final match in New York.
Nadal, in his next match, is scheduled to take on Austrian Dominic Thiem whom he described in post-match interview as a "fantastic and powerful" player and anticipated the quarter-final will be a "tough" one.
The pair last met in Roland Garros final in June which the Austrian lost to Nadal in three sets by 6-4, 6-3, 6-2.
