US Open 2018: Novak Djokovic Faces Juan Del Potro In The Final As Rafael Nadal Retires Due To Knee Injury

Novak Djokovic is set for his third title of the season as he takes on Argentine Juan Martin Del Potro in the final of the US Open in Flushing Meadow on Sunday.
The former world champion blasted off into the final round of the tournament after a successful semi-final match with Japanese Kei Nishikori which he conveniently won in straight sets 6-3, 6-4, 6-2.
Two-time champion, Djokovic, has been in an incredible form since winning his first title at Wimbledon and doubled it with historic Golden Masters title at Cincinnati, obviously he is making the most of the latter part of the season.
Speaking after the match, the 31-year-old who had a hard time with recovery from elbow injury in clay-court season, attributed his tremendous improvement on "working hard every day" on his form.
"It means the world to me," said Djokovic of reaching the final in Arthur Ashe stadium " I am trying to be the best that I can be. I am working hard every day and trying to reach certain heights that I visualise every time I accomplish something big."
He added "I don't see any limits. I keep on going and hopefully you are enjoying my tennis."
Meanwhile, earlier in another draw, top seed Rafael Nadal could not make it to the final of the tournament following a knee injury during the semi-final match with Juan Potro, leading to his retirement in second set to lose to the Argentine by 6-7(3-7), 2-6.
The 32-year-old hopped out of the court when he could not bear the pain from his knee any longer and made his way to the side court retiring from the match.
"I know what I have. I know what is going on with my knee" says Nadal
"I know how I have to work to be better as soon as possible. It's not about losing, it's about not having the chance to fight for it."
Winning the match gave Juan del Potro his sixth victory over the defending champion in seventeen ATP FedEx draws.
