US Open 2018: Novak Djokovic Beats Argentine Juan Del Potro To Win Third Title In New York, Equals Record Set By Pete Sampras

Novak Djokovic has claimed his third US Open title in Flushing Meadow after a successful final match with Argentine Juan Martin Del Potro winning in straight sets by 6-3 7-6(4) 6-3.
This makes the Serbs, 31, second straight consecutive titles won since his recovery from elbow injury, which devastated him throughout clay-court season until Wimbledon when he won his first beating South African Kevin Anderson.
The Cincinnati Open champion won his 14th major title to equal previous world record set by legendary player Pete Sampras, moving him up to third place in all-time biggest major single winners behind Rafael Nadal (17) and Roger Federer (20).
"I thought it was electrifying in some stages of the matches, especially in the second set when we went toe-to-toe," he said recalling fighting tie-break with the Argentine "I had my corner, as well, I had my fans. The full stadium got involved, especially in those stages of the match."
