UEFA Plan To Introduce New Competition Alongside Champions And Europa League By 2021
European Club Association are currently working on adding a new competition alongside existing ones - Champions League and Europe League - and proposed to launch it by 2021/22 season.
The move is reportedly aimed at bringing in more clubs to compete in continental competitions which would invariably increased the number of clubs playing in European tournament per season to 96.

According to a statement from the association chairman Andreas Agnelli at ECA annual general meeting in Croatia, he hinted at the association's plan to introduce a new competition, and are in talks with the executives of the sport's governing body.
"Pending approval of the UEFA executive committee, the 'green light has been given to introduce a third competition," said Andreas. "This would bring the overall number of clubs in European competition to 96, as of the 2021/22 season."
It was not mentioned that the association intend to bring back EUFA Club Winners' Cup which was cancelled after 1998/99 season - the last winners of the tournament was Lazio which beat Mallorca of Spain 2-1 In Birmingham.
Andreas went on to talk about their preparedness to ensure a successful introduction saying, "A detailed assessment of the existing international match calender is requiring prior to presenting a new model post-2024."
