Singapore GP 2018: Sebastian Vettel Blames Ferrari's Strategy For Defeat, Admits Lewis Hamilton Was "Too Quick"
As Lewis Hamilton extends his lead over Sebastian Vettel in championship title race, the German has something against strategy adopted by Ferrari, admitting that his British rival was "too quick" in Marina Bay at Singapore Grand Prix.
Unfortunately for the 31-year-old, he lost the second place to Red Bull's Max Verstappen because Ferrari's decision to pit him early inti the race which was one of the things he is not having with his constructors.
"We tried to be aggressive in the beginning and obviously it didn't work out. With the way we raced today, we didn't have a chance," says Sebastian.
He went further to criticise the pace of their cars which he believes do not stand a "chance" with their opponents' saying, "I said before the weekend we could only beat ourselves and I think today we didn't get everything out of our package."
At Practice Three on Saturday, Sebastian claimed the victory at the session with a stunning record lap of 1.38:196sec, but could not follow his performance at the qualifying session and final race, both which were claimed by the Hamilton and Max in first and second place respectively.
The German added in post-race interview in Marina Bay admitting to pace dominance of his rival Hamilton saying, "It was clear we were not fast enough in the race, we need to understand why. It's largely due to his we decided to race and which tyres for how many laps. We we tried to do was get to first position and get ahead, but Lewis was too quick."
Ferrari won the practice sessions by Kimi Ra and Sebastian Vettel session until qualifying and final on hypersoft tyres. Recently, he is 40 points behind Hamilton who leads with 281 points.
