Singapore GP 2018: Lewis Hamilton Claims Career 79th Pole Position As Max Verstappen, Sebastian Vettel Finish Behind
Lewis Hamilton has claimed his 7th pole position of the season as he cruised through to trump title rival Sebastian Vettel in Marina Bay.
The Briton dominated the race blasting off to claimed his 79th career pole position in 1.36:015 sec, as Ferrari Sebastian Vettel dropped behind to finished in third place behind Red Bull's Max Verstappen.
Earlier in Practice Three, Ferrari's German driver delivered an impressive circuit lap record of 1.38:054sec and that has now been squashed by Hamilton in the final qualifier.
Hamilton described the lap as what his brother would say "sexy lap" after he had said, "I'm amazed by the lap as felt. It felt incredible. I only have that one lap in me, I couldn't go faster."

Also, Kimi who did incredibly well in Practice Two by edging out Hamilton to claim the victory, but could not stand the chance as he finished in fifth place behind Mercedes' Bottas Valtteri.
"Most amazing lap I have ever since," says Mercedes boss Wolff Totto in a post-race interview and described his feelings as "over the moon" for having to win the pole position.
