Jose Mourinho Fined £2 Million For Tax Evasion By Spanish Govt, Escapes Serving One Year Jail Sentence
Manchester United Manager Jose Mourinho has been asked to pay £2 million fine to Spanish government in settlement of tax evasion lawsuit filed against him, and will be spared one-year jail sentence which he would have served for the offence committed.
The Portuguese, 55, was found guilty of allegedly defrauding the country's authorities of almost £3 million for not declaring income made from image rights when he served as manager of Real Madrid between 2011 and 2012 before moving over to Premier League side Chelsea in 2013.
Last year, a two count charge of tax evasion was filed against him and in another separate lawsuit was his then team player at Real Madrid Cristiano Ronaldo who also was accused of the same offence.
Mourinho, reportedly has agreed to every terms and condition of his settlement, and as allowed under Spanish Law that a sentence under two can be served on probation.
